Prenatal appointment
We had our first real prenatal appointment today. It was actually very enjoyable. It was actually our second pregnancy related appointment, since I already saw my G.P., who ran various blood tests and all that stuff. But today was our first appointment with the people from Westside Midwives, who'll be involved in our care from now on.
The woman I met was extremely nice and answered all of our questions. We spent about an hour talking and getting information. One of the things we learned is that midwives consult regularly with obstetricians and that if things get complicated, you can see both. It makes a lot of sense that it works that way, but I wasn't sure what the relationship was. As well, after the birth a midwife comes to your home about five times in the first week to make sure everything is going well. So I'm sure that will be a big help. So between now and September we will meet all three midwives several times and one of them will deliver little JM!
